ANNOUNCEMENT

AHP and CIBHS Partnering to Expand MAT for Youth and Young Adults in California

Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) is pleased to announce its partnership with the California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions (CIBHS) to expand Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for youth and young adults in California. This project is supported through the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Substance Use Disorder Compliance Division. DHCS received Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration funding to improve access to services for MAT, and the CIBHS/AHP Team was awarded an allocated portion of this funding to implement and expand MAT and opioid use disorder (OUD) prevention, treatment, and recovery services to youth and young adults and their family members.

To advance this effort, our Team, in collaboration with DHCS, will issue a Request for Application (RFA) and seek grant applicants for the purpose of developing new and enhanced services. It is anticipated that an official RFA announcement, with information about a bidder’s conference for potential applicants, will be published in March 2019. The Team’s work will also include the development of outreach and implementation plans, creation of strategies to distribute OUD materials throughout the state, and the establishment of learning collaboratives.

This is an unprecedented opportunity to expand services for California’s young people, and we look forward to playing a part in meeting this goal. Our combined national and state expertise in the development and management of youth-specific, MAT, and behavioral health services, as well as experience in developing and enhancing integrated and comprehensive systems of care, places the Team in a well-matched position to assist DHCS in implementing and expanding MAT prevention, treatment, and recovery services for youth and young adults with OUDs in California.

AHP’s mission is to improve health and human services of care and business operations to help organizations and individuals reach their full potential.

CIBHS’s mission is to help health professionals, agencies, and funders improve the lives of people with mental and substance use challenges through policy, training, evaluation, technical assistance, and research.
